Boulting Laboratory

Team

We aim to foster a safe and inclusive environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and intellectual growth. Our philosophy is to mentor, empower, and champion individuals from all walks of life who are passionate about, and dedicated to, conducting scientific research with integrity and rigor. To uncover basic truths of human neurobiology we must work together, honestly, and hold each other to the highest standards.

Principal Investigator

Gabriella Boulting

Gabriella L. Boulting, PhD

Dr. Boulting earned her PhD in Biochemistry at Harvard University, in the laboratory of Kevin Eggan, PhD, Professor of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology. Her research focused on applications of human stem cells to the study of neurodegenerative diseases, such as the production of human spinal motor neurons, generation of human iPSC lines for in vitro models of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), and elucidation of disease phenotypes in motor neurons derived from ALS patient-iPSCs.

She completed postdoctoral training in the laboratory of Michael Greenberg, PhD, Professor of Neurobiology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Boulting, with colleagues, discovered primate-evolved expression and functions of the secreted peptide Osteocrin in the brain. Subsequently, using single-cell and quantitative genomic profiling, Dr. Boulting led the first epigenomic study of neuronal activity-dependent changes in human neurons, leading to the discovery of ASD heritability enrichment unique to activity-inducible gene promoters.

Some of Gabriella’s favorite things outside of research are SciFi, wine, pão de queijo (with guava), and the beach.

Genevieve Baddoo

Bioinformatician

Hi! My name is Genevieve. I received my B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Bioinformatics from Loyola University Chicago. I love learning about how biology and technology combine to answer scientific questions. I always look forward to opportunities in scientific research that allow me to challenge myself, learn, and create change in the spaces I pursue. Other hobbies I enjoy include singing, drawing, reading, and writing. I also love spending time with animals, outdoor adventures, and traveling.
